Deck the Halls for a Cause: Support YWCA Delaware!
This holiday season, YWCA Delaware is honored to be selected as a featured charity in Delaware Park Casino’s “Deck the Halls for a Cause” silent auction!
From November 28 through December 19, guests can visit Delaware Park Casino (777 Delaware Park Blvd, Wilmington, DE 19804) to bid on beautifully decorated holiday trees — each one designed by local charities and community partners.
Our team is thrilled to present our tree themed “Warmth & Welcome,” featuring ornaments that represent the many programs and services YWCA Delaware offers to empower women, eliminate racism, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
How to Participate:
Stop by Delaware Park Casino anytime between 11/28 – 12/19 to view and bid on your favorite trees.
The highest bidders will take home the entire decorated tree — a perfect way to “Bring Your Favorite Tree Home for the Holidays!”
Every dollar raised from our tree bids directly supports YWCA Delaware’s housing, crisis response, economic empowerment, youth, and advocacy programs that help improve health, safety, and stability across our community.

Week Without Violence
About Week Without Violence
Week Without Violence has been a YWCA national campaign since 1995 – 30 years!
In partnership with World YWCA, Week Without Violence is the YWCA movement’s opportunity to come together and advocate for a safer world for women, girls and families. This year’s theme, Safe Beginnings: Protecting Mothers, Nurturing Futures, is all about how we can support moms and their children as they build hopeful, healthier futures. Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing stories from real YWCA program participants to amplify their voices, honor their resilience, and inspire action.
Join us from
October 20-24, 2025
As we raise awareness, elevate survivor voices, talk with policymakers, and more with a common goal: centering survivors so that together, we can end gender-based violence.
DAY 1 – Delivering Justice: Advancing Equity in Maternal & Infant Health
Tackling racial and systemic disparities in maternal and infant outcomes, toxic stress, and ensuring every mother has access to respectful, quality care.
DAY 2 – Carrying Courage: Ending Violence in Pregnancy
Uplifting the strength of pregnant survivors and advocating for safety, support, and trauma-informed care during one of life’s most vulnerable times.
DAY 3 – Nurturing in Safety: The Right to Raise Children in Stable Homes
Highlights how access to safe, stable, and affordable housing is essential for mothers and families to thrive. Explores how domestic violence, eviction, and systemic inequities disrupt the ability to parent in peace—and calls for housing justice as a cornerstone of family well-being.
DAY 4 – Leaving Isn’t Easy: Understanding the Barriers Mothers Face
Discussing the barriers that mothers face to leaving domestic violence situations.
Include financial abuse as a barrier to mother’s leaving domestic violence situations, this will help tie in our partners at Allstate.
DAY 5 – Justice for Mothers: Legal Pathways to Safety and Stability
Focusing on the critical role of legal systems in protecting mothers and their children from domestic violence. While laws exist to safeguard survivors, many mothers—especially those who are Black, Brown, immigrant, low-income, or disabled—face overwhelming barriers when seeking justice. From navigating custody battles to securing restraining orders, the legal system can be both a lifeline and a labyrinth.

Peace Pole Dedication Ceremony at YWCA Delaware’s Home-Life Management Center
Join us in celebrating Peace Week Delaware’s 10th Anniversary with the installation of a new symbol of hope and unity.
On the corner of North Madison and West 8th Streets in Wilmington’s West Center City neighborhood, YWCA Delaware’s Home-Life Management Center will soon welcome a powerful symbol of hope and unity — a Peace Pole, installed in honor of Peace Week Delaware’s 10th anniversary.
The ceremony will include remarks from community leaders, including Melissa Gonville, YWCA Delaware Chief Executive Officer, and Becca Cotto, YWCA Delaware Director of Community Engagement. The Peace Pole will bear the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in four languages—English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, and Mandarin.
To extend that spirit of unity beyond the event, attendees will receive candles to carry peace and light into their own neighborhoods, while supplies last.
“As a statewide organization committed to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all, YWCA Delaware is honored to host this powerful symbol of global solidarity,” said Melissa Gonville, CEO of YWCA Delaware. “The message on this Peace Pole reflects our ongoing commitment to creating spaces where every person can live free from violence and fear.”
“More than 300 individuals and families each year find refuge and a fresh start at YWCA Delaware's Home-Life Management Center,” said Lisa Forever, Chief Housing and Community Impact Officer. “This is the perfect place to plant a symbol of peace and hope for everyone who walks through our doors.”
About the Peace Pole Movement
The International Peace Pole Project, founded by Masahisa Goi (1916–1980), has installed more than 100,000 Peace Poles in over 190 countries. Each pole carries the same universal message—“May Peace Prevail on Earth”—serving as a global reminder that peace begins within our communities and within ourselves.
