Internship Opportunities

Each year, we serve thousands of individuals and families through housing, economic empowerment, domestic violence and sexual assault crisis response, youth programming, and community engagement.

Our internship program provides students and emerging professionals with meaningful, hands-on experience in nonprofit work. Interns gain valuable skills, make professional connections, and directly contribute to programs that strengthen our community.

We are currently accepting applications for Fall 2025 internship opportunities:

Development/Grants Internship

The Development/Grants Intern will support YWCA Delaware’s fundraising and grants management work, working closely with the Grants Director to build systems and strengthen organizational capacity. This role is ideal for students or emerging professionals interested in nonprofit management, fundraising, and compliance.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Developing and refining systems for tracking grants

  • Completing administrative tasks such as scanning, filing, and organizing folders

  • Assisting in creating a step-by-step Grants Manual

  • Supporting the development of a grants calendar with deadlines, deliverables, and reporting requirements

  • Drafting standard communications such as thank-you letters and funder correspondence

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with shared drives or databases a plus

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently

  • Interest in nonprofit management, fundraising, or public administration

Communications Internship

The Communications Intern will play an integral role on YWCA Delaware’s Development Team, working closely with the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager to support and implement comprehensive marketing, communications, and digital media strategies.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Preparing engaging written, image-based, and video-based content

  • Contributing content for newsletters and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.)

  • Attending departmental meetings and virtual/in-person events

  • Assisting with marketing efforts for events, speaking engagements, and press conferences

  • Supporting video and podcast editing projects

  • Identifying influencers and social media trends

  • Maintaining brand consistency and adhering to an editorial calendar

Qualifications:

  • Must be available ~15 hours per week / 1–2 days in office

  • Strong writing and storytelling skills

  • Ability to multitask, take initiative, and meet weekly deadlines

  • Works well independently and as part of a team
