There are several YWCA Delaware-initiated action-oriented response networks working to meet the immediate needs of the local community after incidents of hate and injustice. Together, they are working to foster connections among community groups in their counties. The Allied Local Emergency Response Team (ALERT) (firstname.lastname@example.org) is the network that formed in New Castle County, and there are now 3 networks operating in PA under the name L.E.A.R.N. in nearby PA:
Delaware County (email@example.com),
Chester County (firstname.lastname@example.org),
and Montgomery County (email@example.com).
YWCA Delaware has also provided virtual assistance and advice to those wishing to start a network in other parts of the country. This service is available for free from our Director of Racial & Social Justice, and accompanies the How-To Organizing guide below.
If you have an interest in getting involved, follow a Facebook page, contact a group to get on their email list, and come out to an organizing meeting in your area.
It is not too late to join us!
If you have questions, please e-mail Rebecca Cotto, Director of Racial & Social Justice.
