Join YWCA Delaware’s first-ever fundraising walk – Journey to Freedom: A Juneteenth Celebration, on Saturday, June 10th, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Glasgow Park, 2275 Pulaski Hwy, Newark, DE 19702. This event aims to bring our community and like-minded advocates together in celebration and honor of a major historical event. During this event, we will recognize and celebrate African American history, resilience and achievement. We will walk a 2.6-mile loop that highlights the history of Juneteenth, then end back at the park for an after-party which will include local vendors, music, raffle prizes, giveaways, and educational opportunities to learn more about our mission of eliminating racism and empowering women, our programs and initiatives, and the individuals and families we serve. Registration is required to participate in the walk and receive a T-shirt. The registration fee is $37.31. Proceeds from this event will support YW’s racial and social justice programming, which reached over 1,600 participants in 2022, of which 95% of participants reported an increased understanding of systemic racism and the inequalities it creates. Can’t join us for the walk but want to support YW? You can also donate directly to YW below.
We hope to see you on June 10th at 11 a.m. at Glasgow Park, and thank you for your support! Register to Walk and/or Join a Team at: https://myevent.com/ywcajourneytofreedom.
