YWCA Delaware is accepting nominations by October 30, 2015 for
women within the community who exemplify leadership while demonstrating a
commitment to YWCA Delaware's mission:
Racism and Empowering Women. The Academy of Women Leader honorees have
historically pursued opportunities to advance women and their families,
champion racial justice and embody our vision for peace, justice, freedom,
dignity and opportunities for all people. YWCA Delaware has honored women
community leaders for more than 25 years and more than 70 women have been added
to the Academy of Women Leaders’ esteemed ranks in that time.
Each honoree will be featured as a keynote speaker at one of
three YWCA Delaware events in 2016, and will be offered a year-long social
media campaign through YWCA Delaware's platforms to advocate for her causes and
work as it relates to empowering women and eliminating racism.
In 2016, YWCA Delaware will bestow the Academy of Women
Leaders honors on three new women with awards based on the following criteria:
YWCA Delaware will honor a woman who uplifts the women
around her through her personal and career platforms by:
Making outstanding contributions to their
profession and/or professional organizations through leading initiatives and
breaking new ground for advancement of women.
Making outstanding contributions to the Delaware
Community as a leader, professional and/or volunteer.
Striving to empower and engage women within her
company and/or community and serves as mentors/role models to women.
Advocating for social changes that empower women
and supporting initiatives that empower women to realize their full potential
in business, political, community and personal endeavors.
The Genevieve Gore Young Woman’s Leadership Award
YWCA Delaware will honor a woman under the age of 35 who
actively pursues opportunities to make a difference in the world. The honoree

YWCA Delaware will honor a woman who shows a strong
commitment to eliminating racism and fostering social justice by:
Striving through her work and community presence
to eliminate racism in her community.
Actively fostering an understanding of social
inequalities in the pursuit of eliminating them.
Taking a stand for eliminating barriers to equal
access to the social advancement for all people.
