Youth Empowerment at work in Sussex County!

The Summer Internship Teen Empowerment program (SITE) had a great run this summer in Sussex County and concluded with 2 special events. The entrepreneur component of the program held a sale of their “upcycled” items at the beautiful Georgetown Farmers Market on Wednesday, August 6, 2014. Their table garnered a lot of interest and the girls were proud and ready to explain their business plan, vision, mission and future hopes to all who stopped by. Their efforts were rewarded with over $100 worth of sales ( that will go right back into the program for next year), several donations and many opportunities for the girls and their Advisor, Shannon Sampere, to spread the word about the great things YWCA Delaware Youth Empowerment program has to offer. The next evening, the whole group, entrepreneurs and girls who had been interning at various Sussex County businesses, gathered together for a special Dinner Celebration. Each of them told how the summer had impacted their lives. They were gifted with Kindles and gift cards.
